I was in Canadian Tire today to get a thing I needed.

She then escorted me and the item to the checkout to ensure that nothing untoward happened to me until I had safely purchased the item.

(Edited to add: I wasn't allowed to carry the item, she brought it to the cashier and i could touch it after I paid for it)

I felt that they dropped the ball, a bit, by not also escorting me to my car. Perhaps I'll write a note to the manager.

I'm a little reluctant to post a pic of the item - I don't want to encourage thieves!

@MichaelPorter

Such a pain. I hate that new system. I try to avoid Canadian Tire as much as possible.

@sleepy62 Yeah, the worst part of it is when you realize that you'll have to find someone to find someone to get the keys to open the door. You definitely don't want to do this when the three employees in the store are on their break...

In defense of CT, though, people are jerks. I recently had a conversation with a grocery store employee about not being able to find any shopping baskets in the store (not carts, the smaller hand-held ones). She told me that they stopped offering them because the store was losing hundreds of them to theft. And don't get me started on people too selfish to return their shopping carts to the corral, 20 m away, when they've just walked far more than that as they did their shopping.
