Turns out kids don't have an inner monologue until age 6-7 on average. I was asking kiddo to stop whispering after lights out and it turns out that it might be literally impossible for like another year or two https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7090223/

@lambdageek fascinating! I clearly remember when I was 3.5 I was reading out loud and they told me to read without speaking, I was very skeptical but I tried and it worked and it blew my mind so much that I felt I had a superpower. After some time I noticed I'm also faster this way.
