Sometimes I wonder what the Affinity Designer team would think if they knew I was using their tool to conduct live sessions of Dungeons and Dragons.

Oh, I'm definitely aware of Roll 20; I've used it for well over a decade at this point.
I just got tired of running up against its limitations, and decided I would rather create my own entire UI than keep using their service.
Also I had a dreadful interview there so I'm biased.

@illogical_me Haha I'm not sure I would claim it's easier, but it's definitely more flexible and I've not run into any bugs at all.
My favorite part is being completely in control of the presentation. It's also a lot easier to make re-useable components; for example, I made a hot-swappable token specific for boss monsters so the player can see how many points of damage they've done to the enemy (rather than having to reveal their max HP).
