Have opened up my tower PC to connect a new hard drive designated for Linux Mint. Hooo boy, connecting SATA plugs is way more complicated than you would think 😅

Okay, so apparently it is now much smarter to use UEFI boot setting for a dual boot system. So I had to convert my Win10 installation from MBR to GPT, trying to install Mint again now...

Ugh, this is turning into such a time sink. Apparently the data drive has decided this is a good time to start flaking out on me. Sometimes it is found at boot, sometimes not. Nightmare to debug the SATA ports and BIOS settings this way. Have disconnected the failing drive and hope to pull data from it later.

Hate to spend so much of my free time on this, but working with #Windows10 is becoming unbearable and I sure as all fuck ain't going to install #Windows11 on any of my own machines.

Alright, install of #LinuxMint worked! And dual boot is set up perfectly, too. GRUB offers both Mint and Windows out of the box, and both do load.

What a relief! 🥳🥳🥳

So since my 1 TB data disk is on its last legs, I'm spending my Sunday in Windows rescuing the data while I still can access it. Would so much rather be setting up my beautiful newborn #LinuxMint installation! 🥲
