Ugh should I bring my laptop to #38c3 ? Or am I just gonna hate lugging around a heavy bag the entire time?

@Zackstarkid depends, during build up, typically not needed. During the event could be nice, also can be useful for signing up for angel shifts. But having a place to leave it safely is nice for not lugging it around too much.

@wmd I will be staying in a shared hostel room with 7 other people- it says on the website there is a place for the bag with a lock on it but not sure how much that is to be trusted.

Leaning really towards actually just skipping it because of how much walking the actual conference is but the computer-separation-anxiety is so real!! Rationally I think I won’t use it but the feeling is still there haha

@wmd my old one is also super heavy, it’s a MacBook Pro from 2016 so it’s still quite valuable. But it’s true that it wouldn’t be at all the same type of disaster if it got lost one way or another

@Zackstarkid if you really need a laptop bring the smallest one you can comfortably work on, you'll be lugging it about for 4 days

Smartphone is often the easier choice for Fahrplan and other congress related stuff.

When I have to take a projector or other larger equipment on a certain day, I sometimes give it to the wardrobe after I used it and collect it on leaving in the night. But I don't dare to do this with my laptop.
