@pfefferle
An update to the WordPress ActivityPub plugin yesterday has changed the layout of my site without any warning, by adding a block showing likes and follows on all pages and posts.
Such changes should not be automatic and not notified.
I have had to go around and remove that block, which doesn't match the layout of my site. I'll now have to do it on other sites too.
Please don't make automatic changes to visible parts of our sites.

Also, I'm being spammed by emails for new followers and likes, and there's nowhere to disable them. Likes and follows are nice, but I don't want that to be my focus for mental health reasons. It stresses me. I want to focus on making interesting content.

Hi, I now have the check boxes in the plugin settings, they're unchecked, and I keep getting the notifications.
Something's off.

@seindal I am sorry, we already had some feedback that this was maybe not a very good idea, to have no opt-out 😔
If you need a quick way to opt-out of the emails, simply add
\remove_action( 'init', array( '\Activitypub\Mailer', 'init' ) );
somewhere in your custom theme, or in a custom code plugin.
you can also simply remove the plugin from the view. we work on a solution and will change it to an opt-in.

@seindal these are classic comment notifications, where I simply changed the text. You have to disable them in the core comment settings.

@seindal do you expect them to be configurable independent from the comments settings?

@pfefferle Yes. Comment notifications by email is an anti-spam measure, but likes and reposts can't be spam. They just lower the signal to noise ratio for no gain.

@seindal sure, but I am not sure if and how it is doable... because technically likes and shares are comments... 🤔
