We were still living in Brooklyn when an old friend from university came into town with the idea for a track about posters. He had the lyrics already down and wanted something dancey (I can’t remember the exact term he used). We recorded his vocals at my apartment and I got to work over the next week. It’s always easier when someone gives you an idea and sets some parameters. Another friend had suggested the MDE-X on vocals, so I used it for Steven’s voice. We recorded my wife doing the second layer and the track was basically done except for proper mastering.

2. Nebula - https://friendsoffido.bandcamp.com/track/nebula

I used to work on embedded broadcast systems and often spent time onsite to deploy and test on the local network. One project in the early 2000s took me to Langen, Germany for 9 months where we worked 7-day weeks often late into the evening. There was a channel on TV playing chill ambient tunes by the likes of Sushi Club, Aural Float, and Higher Intelligence Agency and I lived off the stuff while I was there.

Nebula came about from all that.

This style is still one of my favorites to listen to while either working or on a solo day out in nature.

Back in 2014, @jack posted a link to audio loops of a session with https://michiwiancko.bandcamp.com recorded back in 2004, inviting anyone to use them as a source. And that’s just what I did.

I did not purposely plan to finally release this also 10 years apart yet, here we are. Barely.
