I struggled initially with defining my life in Singapura and Canada as a two-stage genocide.
The definition says:
“In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:”
Which national, ethnical, racial, or religious group could I claim that my lived experience proves the presence of genocidal forces?

There are other Indians doing just fine.
As far as I understand my ethnicity, there are others of the same ethnicity doing just fine.
There are other North Indians doing just fine.
There are other Hindus (not that I am or have ever been one) and Buddhists doing just fine.

“just fine” with the caveat that on account of the privileging of ableism within capitalist societies, this exists only on paper while in truth there is plenty of serious dukkha present that is conveniently layered over with consumption.
I found it difficult to apply the definition as it had been provided.

However, when I take the factor of skintone into account, I think it becomes clear that there is a sinister, vicious, depraved globally-present set of forces that seeks to destroy any and all melanin that doesn't operate in subservience to fair-skin.

Skin lightening creams were and still are popular in India. A problem with those products arises for castes without excess finances to expend on such tactics. However, if they possess fair-skinned members, a form of eugenics can be practiced to gradually dispose of, through seemingly ‘natural’ causes, the dark-skinned members, thus lightening themselves and positioning themselves better for permanent servitude to their chosen fair-skinned onwers/masters.

Is there a global genocide underway against dark-skinned people? It definitely seems that way from where I am sitting. This genocide operates in developed countries at all levels. I suppose some may be disposed of more “easily” from the perspective of the operators of these countries who can't afford too great a level of ‘excess deaths’. Not that it makes those lives any less important to have protected and to remember today.

I am positioned with privilege. Even as I have tried unsuccesfully to build my life through conscious awareness of privilege to the extent possible and doing all the hard work that I know I am capable of, rather than accept the short-cuts of privilege. My potential demise may have had to be calculated and planned more carefully, I suppose.

A dark-skinnned biological son of a graduate of the allegedly prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (located in Gujarat, the same state where a Narendra Modi oversaw an anti-Muslim pogrom in 2002), dying young may raise eyebrows without sufficient evidence to show that the fair-skinned males around the son were at no fault whatsoever.

Perhaps they thought that they could, through endless abuse, convince me to accept my assignd ‘place’ in their backwards delusional reality. Nobody has sat down with me in my entire life and discussed anything with me on the basis of a shared, common humanity. I know now that this is due to their lack of intact basic humanity as adults, they approach their entire social world through the abuse derived from their delusion of ‘power’.

Does ‘dark-skinned’ qualify as a ‘a national, ethnical, racial or religious group’? I can't confidently say such a thing, but that does not change our experiences.
I still describe what I have experienced in Singapura and Canada as an advanced, modern, 2-stage genocide.

As a footnote, I use the word ‘Singapura’ as the common name ‘Singapore’ used to cause me immense suffering merely by seeing the word. It is only within the past few years, after decades of struggle, that the word Singapore does not affect me negatively.
