I always used to use ddclient to update my registrar entries at Namecheap. It generally worked well, although very occasionally I'd have a couple of minutes of downtime if I happened to use the site in the few minutes between my ISP changing my dynamic IP and ddclient updating the registrar.
These days I have a VPS with a static IP, although I'm actually considering setting up a second in home server that just syncs stuff to the VPS that I want to be public.
