i'm coming at this from a transfem perspective so pls tell me if i get anything wrong thx.

transmascs threaten normative society because their existence undermines misogynists' ability to exploitatively extract feminized labor (including reproduction). the patterns of oppression used to discourage transition/encourage detransition are called "transmisandry" because nobody has come up with a better term, despite the numerous misunderstandings caused by the fact it has the word "misandry" in it. (edit: poorly thought-out digression on the quality of the term. MFM strikethrough rather than removal for transparency.)

transfems threaten normative society because a group of people who could have male privilege but reject it undermines the system of misogyny by highlighting the socially constructed nature of gender. transmascs can also undermine cissexism in this way, but cissexist groups respond with the lies that they are ether "confused" or "transitioning for privilege". that's bad enough, and that second narrative doesn't apply to transfems. so we get a different sin attributed to us. the narrative is that transfems are only transitioning for predatory/sexual reasons, which (due to the pervasiveness of this lie) leads to the view of transfems as suspicious by default by the majority of society. this is the pattern that the term "transmisogyny" describes.

TMA and TME should just be shorthands for if an individual is affected by transmisogyny. the terms were created because TMAs observed that transmisogyny is used to incite mobs against TMAs in ways that would be more difficult when attacking TMEs (suspicious by default, remember?). some people are using them instead as ways to push the narrative that transfems are "more oppressed" then transmascs, which doesn't reflect the vast majority of lived experience.

the solution isn't to deny or downplay either of these phenomena, but rather to be conscientious of the different vectors of attack used against trans people. the goal shouldn't be to somehow disprove the existence of either vector, but to destroy the social systems that encourage and enable bigotry.
