Here's a story you won't hear often. We arrived at Cape Town airport as boarding opened and went straight to the counter. Where we waited for an hour because of a "problem with our status" - couldn't be checked in. Finally thought I would try to check in online (one of thefew times I haven't). And succeeded. I showed my phone screen to the man at the counter who glanced down and saw our status had changed. I then got delayed checking in more couples on line who were having the same problem
