So ... following in the footsteps of @ChrisMayLA6 , I've started a project to digitise all my old LPs

First off: Cat Stevens's Foreigner. A much maligned album, but I like it - especially Gerry Conway's drumming.

oooo..... not my footsteps; vinyl all the way at the Prof's house.... I'm even a bit suspicious of CDs; digitisation.... a no no

I'm digitising mainly for convenience, but also as a backup.

The recording device that I use gives me 96000 samples per second of 24-bit audio. Far more resolution than the 44100 samples/s 16-bit audio of CDs.

Oldies that have been "remastered" for CD have often been mangled beyond recognition.

Digitising an LP keeps the music as it was originally intended.

Apart from the additional clicks and pops, of course 🙃

Is it a Brennan you're using?

No, I have a relatively elderly Terratec Phono PreAmp, but I don't use its internal phono preamp because it's a bit noisy.

Sorry, I meant for the digitising....

That's what I understood, The Terratec is a little USB input-only audio device. It has a built-in phono preamp but I just use its line-in ability.
