Fun fact: There's a railroad museum in my tiny little town (it used to be a hub on a rail line) and they have cool model trains in it.

@scalzi NGL, I'm a unapologetic foamer and like model trains. Although there's no way I would build one myself as I have no space or talent for the kind of work that goes into building one.

@scalzi the nice thing about Midwestern rail yards for modeling (he says in all sincerity) is that you donโ€™t need to put in any topography, everything you need is already all right there on a flat piece of foam core

@scalzi not so far from here there is a place that used to have six train tracks running through it (and a station that is now some kind of conference place), which also has a wonderful museum next to where the six tracks used to go.

@scalzi If anyone is curious, these are N-Scale trains, one of the smallest model trains you can buy that run on electricity. For reference, they are about the size of your finger.
