For the last few months, I’ve had trouble finding shoes that fit and didn’t hurt my feet. I tried Amazon and Zappos (which I learned is just Amazon now), then went to the local DSW, but that was a fail. I visited the big and tall store, and even bought some funky target ad powered shoes. I was ready to give up when I remembered we have a full-service shoe store in town called Karavel. They recently took over an old Discount Electronics building.
A salesman asked what I was looking for, measured my feet, and came back with six pairs of shoes to try. They knew everything about each pair—the materials, features—and helped me try them on and take them off. I was thoroughly impressed. On my drive home, I realized we used to have this kind of service for many things we buy. Maybe that's why I like curbside grocery pickup or delivery.
I wonder if an old little house on the prairie kind of grocery store could survive today?
