Preparing the TDMoIP "Plan B" for the #38c3 #ISDN V5 interface backhaul to the EWSD - Plan A is to use SDH multiplexers to carry NxE1, but we're not sure if there will be sufficient spare fibers available. @c3isdn

@LaF0rge @c3isdn you have an EWSD? I'm impressed

@bewo001 @LaF0rge within the retronetworking community there are now [I think] a total of 5 operational EWSDs at vsrious locations in DE and CZ. When we started with https://discourse.osmocom.org/c/retronetworking/13 there was none, and specifically no museum worldwide had an operational EWSD. Luckily we could help our part helping to preserve telecom history. Sadly no working S12 at collectoes/museums yet...

@c3isdn @bewo001 @LaF0rge There is an S12 at the Museum in Nürnberg but judging based on the state of disrepair and love needed for their sadly severely consolidated analog switches they don't seem to have the resources to bring it back to service.
I do have a personal connection to their director and would gladly connect but the current setup seems to need considerable work in the order of months to get back in shape.

@LaF0rge @c3isdn doesn't CCH have POTS(or even higher) grade wiring around?
From a bit of reading, U_K2 works over low single digit km distances? A bit higher with some signal boosters along the way (though I'd assume those are hard to get hands on)?
Are you the transceivers/line drivers for U_K2, or do I misremember the amount of buried copper at CCH?

@namibj @c3isdn according to our information I received from various folks, there's little to no copper available between different parts of the building. We do have some "E1 over 2-wire SHDSL" bridges available, will have to see on-site. Might also be different back-haul transport for differnt PoPs.
