I’ve had a growing number of complaints with @1password in the year or two since they went all-in on The Enterprise, but I guess this is the thing that’s actually going to make me switch away.
The Rails Foundation is a reactionary project of self-enrichment by a “BDFL” whose behavior caused him to be uninvited from a conference in 2022. Grievance is literally the only reason it exists. I don’t want my money or passwords anywhere near the people who run it.

@sstephenson Would you mind providing a little more context here?
Admittedly 1Password is the core of a lot of what I do for my password management, and has been for years. Plus I have my family on it, so moving is a hassle, but I'd like to know more about some of the controversy.
I know 1Password's app has, bluntly, fallen off a bit since they switched the front end a year or two ago, but that alone hasn't been enough to make me transition.

@justcare @sstephenson Some context: the creator of the Ruby on Rails web framework, David Heinemeier Hansson (DHH), took a hard tack to the far-right in recent years, blowing up 1/3rd of his company 37signals in the process (major brain drain), then attempted to blow up RubyCentral who puts on RailsConf each year by launching the Rails Foundation along with Shopify (wellknown for allowing pseudo-Nazi merch) and some others so he could run RailsWorld and generally be untouchable as king of Rails
