Does anyone remember when the Nazis wanted to march in Morton Grove, Illinois in the 1970's? This is a mostly Jewish suburb of Chicago that forbid them from marching, and the ACLU took on their case for 'free speech.' The country was mortified. The #Nazis won, they had their march, and the story was covered as a one-off horror. Now Nazis openly organize and march in many cities ... and Trump 2.0 has not even officially started.

That's right: Nazis in the USA have been normalized.

@GreenFire Yup. I guess they been normalized for awhile now. I am just struck at the difference in our national response between the 21st century and the 1970's.

@hdunagan I don't believe the issue is Nazis being normalized. The problem is that the people who support or who remain silent don't believe that Trump and associates are acting like facists who follow many ideas of the Nazi playbook.

@ronaldtootall That is definitely a problem. I agree. But think about the reaction to the Charlottesville march in the East and the constant Proud Boy street fighters in the West and how it has become almost background noise in the daily news.
