It occurs to me that while the world is rapt over the M4 Mac mini, perhaps a refurb M2 Pro Mac mini would suit me because it's a drop in replacement for my 2018. Otherwise I might need more adapters and hubs for USB-A stuff.

Buuuut probably not this one.

I'm still very pleased with my intel 2018 Mac mini. When the right specs popped up on the Apple refurb site, I pounced. That did take until February after the thingie was announced, same as this time, prior October.

(although I was totally cheated out of my plan to eventually get an external GPU in a box …)

@pmcg Yeah the idea of spending that much on storage for a desktop is bonkers. I can understand doing it on a laptop if you have really high-end needs, but on a computer that isn’t mobile, you can get an external 8TB SSD for well under $1,000. Heck there’s one on sale right now for $500. Is it as fast? Probably not. But is the difference going to actually matter? Also probably not.

I mean, there's MacMiniColo (or is it MacStadium now?)

They are important as servers (perhaps automated iOS app testing) but skimpy RAM and whacko storage is not right
