Hey all, do any of you have an instant pot and if so would you recommend it?

@ndpi An “instant pot” is a pressure cooker, isn't it? If so, it's awesome for pulses :flan_thumbs:

@alderwick @ndpi it is, though an instant pot is a specific brand of eletric pressure cookers that can also be used as a crockpot.

A friend of mine swears by it, says it's his best appliance. I have a stovetop fagor pressure cooker my wife inherited from her grandmother and I love it, I can cook rice perfectly in 10 minutes and make rich tasting sauces in a quarter of the time. It's also great for rizotto, blanching and onion soup.

Toot

@mathuin looks up what “crockpot” means Aha! A slow cooker in my local tongue.

Thank you, that perfectly explains my confusion when I heard somebody using an Instant Pot™ for something that I was convinced was in slow cooking territory. Now I see they were using it in crockpot mode.

So @ndpi, if you were asking about Instant Pot™ specifically then I can also recommend the crockpot mode, cooking some recipes over ~6–8h saves a lot of electricity.
