@Neil I always assumed it made putting the wheel back after a repair easier? Seems a bit pointless though.

@Neil makes it easier to mount the wheel axel left and right and rim into calipers is slightly trucky with 2 hands

@Neil It's a wheel guide. Modern brake pads often have a little fin on the bottom which serves the same purpose.
