@alien HOw do you like the Broken Earth books? I've devoured everything N. K. Jemisin's written except for the most recent trilogy. I really liked the Inheritance books, too.

@garpu I still need to read volume 3 of The Broken Earth, I like the world building a lot, but I found that it took me a lot of effort to finish each book.
I have not read any of her other books though.

@alien yeah, it's a dense series. I feel like I missed a lot. I'm on Babylon's Ashes. In light of the recent election, the free navy arc is a gut punch. Populists are never good...

@garpu I finished a lot of other books recently, quite the variety but all worth your time: the Book of the Ancestor series (Mark Lawrence), and Saturation Point (Adrian Tchaikovsky aka @aptshadow who writes faster than I can read).
Also Livesuit, a novella by James SA Corey, situated in their Captive's War universe.
And then Arcana Imperii series (Miles Cameron) and I am about to start on the final book in the Wormwood Trilogy (Tade Thompson).

@garpu Yoon Ha Lee's The Machineries of Empire series is also on my list of recent favorites. Looking back at my recommendations, those are alot of books with female protagonists!
And definitely if you want to go to bed with a smile on your face: read Starter Villain by @scalzi
