The story about fans is not totally accurate. The PC-MD (monochrome) monitor didn't have fan in PSU but the HD (hard drive) system unit had one under the disk.
So with color monitor and hard drive you had a fan in both units. But monochrome+floppy setup was completely fanless, other setups had a single fan.
A single AC plug was a cool thing at the time. But also meant you had to buy Amstrad one when upgrading the monitor.

@aakoskin Yeah and handful of errors here and there.. But still nice to hear Roland really seemed to like all this old kit. Me personally.. I've got soft spot for the PCW's (Yeah I need help).. But I do also have a boxed PC1640 in the other room, just waiting for me to have enough downtime to set it up and use it!.. Roll on Xmas! :D
