Thoughts on #Godot #security breach 🧵 :

• While I'm "glad" that exploit has to come from non-official sources, I find problematic how dismissive the community is about it. Specially when the "non-official source" is not an obvious shady site on the internet, but #Github, the same site that hosts the Godot repository. The fact that the loader bypassed Github scanning IS a concerning factor, even if it needs an human factor, people not verifying the author of the repo, for it to work.

• Maybe it's just me, but I've never heard a game jam, or indie game channel recommending using sandbox mode to try games and demos... That's a start.

(A side note) I was just testing a few days ago the experimental sandbox mode from the #itch_io app. Problem is, I use Linux, and most of the games that claim to be Linux compatible, are not compatible with the app, so no sandbox for them either. Again, it would be nice a push for users to use sandbox mode, but I understand that for itch.io case, it might still be too early for it.
