@Kensan And most fire departments do value training opportunities for their aerial equipment operations, too.
Particularly when given an opportunity for doing something interesting for training, and not during an active emergency.
Getting the ladder tip (or a tower’s bucket) right where you want it takes some practice, and decorating will involve a fair amount of that maneuvering.
In many departments, they’d have their less-experienced operators getting some practice running the controls.
And mistakenly putting the ladder tip (somewhat) too far into the tree doesn’t matter here.
