📢 As the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah comes into effect today, millions of civilians, particularly in Lebanon, breathe a sigh of relief.
Since 8 October 2023, at least 3823 people have been killed in Lebanon and at least 15,859 have been injured. In Israel, around 118 people were killed and 610 injured.
The millions of people who have lost loved ones, their homes and their livelihoods deserve justice and reparation.
The Lebanese government must urgently call for a Special Session at the UN Human Rights Council to establish an independent investigative mechanism into violations committed by all parties in this conflict, and it must also provide the International Criminal Court the jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute crimes within the Rome committed on Lebanese territory.
The war has displaced over 1.3 million residents in Lebanon and 63,000 residents in northern Israel. Civilians must be allowed to return to their homes safely.
