Toot

@ivory Hello - I had a quick look at https://tapbots.com/support/ivory/ but didn't spot an answer to the below so:

When I find a new profile, other than checking their timeline to see if I'd like to follow them, I also like to go to the "Following" screen for more suggestions of people I may want to follow. That screen is often empty in Ivory - it seems to only contains accounts that are on the same Mastodon instance as me. (Large, but France-centric.) However if I click "Open Link to Profile" then the "xx following" tab in the web version of Mastodon, the full list is shown. I have no idea if it's an issue with Ivory, the Mastodon API or my instance. Any clue?

@fmy Unfortunately this is a Mastodon limitation because of it's de-centralized nature. You can only see data that your server is aware of. And when viewing Mastodon via a client that uses the API, that's the only data you will see. That's why we have the "open link to" on profiles as well as posts. It opens up the page from the originating server which has the correct data.

@ivory The web profile page has the data, but then the integration with Ivory is gone (even though it's a web view inside Ivory) and I can't click to follow those accounts (unless I login to that instance), etc. - that's really a bit cumbersome. Anyway, nothing I can do about it then.Thanks. It would be nice if the Mastodon API improves or some web page scrapping (dirty word, I know) gets added to Ivory down the road.
