A little update on my electronics hobby. Some time ago I bought discarded bus FlipDot displays, which I have now fitted with new electronics that can be controlled via an RS485 bus. They are each connected with an MQTT-RS485 serial bridge which also activates the power supply only for switching. So it needs very little power.
Two of the displays currently show the temperature + relative humidity from outside and inside. The third shows the time, but without seconds, as this would otherwise make switching noises all the time.

@lunareclipse @Thiro We actually did! Dominik did magnificient job with his driver reversing, recently also helping HSWro with bootstraping theirs with raspi zero + rs485 bridge. Lemme show some photos/videos (CW: pope) and ping myself - @wiktor

@hskrk @lunareclipse @Thiro And since i am firmly between two hackerspaces - one in Wrocław and @hskrk in Kraków, i try to generate some content for both of them - so, now printing and now playing was me playing around one night in Kraków, in Wrocław i did weather and departures from closest tram/bus stop, all of that is talking to Dominik's TDMA flow on nodered and its little submodules eating data from various places like mqtt and some APIs making it easy for rest of the folks to contribute
