@brbcoding great article. In exactly the same place with my own app pulling data from Strava for personal use. One of the primary reasons Strava exists is because the Garmin API isn’t easily open to everyone… perhaps that will change one day…

@beyondwatts Exactly! I wouldn't have cared about Strava at all if Garmin's API were easier to get access to. All my tracking devices are Garmin anyway, and their data is richer.
It sounds like Garmin wants you to be a "company" and not a private individual. I might need to form a company anyway at some point, so we'll see.
While an API makes it more convenient to download the data, I'm open to doing it manually if it comes down to that.

@beyondwatts Hmm very interesting. I'll have to take a look at this. I'm more of a PHP dev, but I guess it doesn't matter how I retrieve the data, as long as I can dump it in my DB. The core of my app is the visualization anyway.
