For some reason Bluesky seems to work better for me... So moving there as my primary platform. If you want to interact, find me at: https://bsky.app/profile/jfversluis.dev

Maybe with your role you don't need this as much as us, but here we have the invaluable @dotnetbot and @mauibot which makes Mastodon head and shoulders above the rest for keeping up with #DotNet and #dotNetMAUI issues π

P.S. is there something you need to activate at your end for us to follow your bridgy account from here? Maybe @rockylhotka @rocky.lhotka.net knows? In the past people have given their bridgy handle and I've just followed that

@SmartmanApps @jfversluis @rocky.lhotka.net Iirc, you need to register both sides with bridgy so it cross posts the way (or ways) you want.
I set mine up for both directions.

@rockylhotka @SmartmanApps @rocky.lhotka.net awesome! I set up the link but was wondering about the custom domain. This will work. Thanks!

Don't forget to let us all know the link so that we can follow you from here. π The Fediverse is awesome!

@SmartmanApps @rockylhotka @rocky.lhotka.net OK hold on. I think it syncs my posts from Bluesky to here on @jfversluis.dev
But can I make it so that it posts it here on my existing handle thing? So not everyone has to follow me on another handle?

Hey Gerald. Yes, I see it and am following you now - thanks! The Fediverse is awesome!
"But can I make it so that it posts it here on my existing handle thing?" - Bridgy is like a bot which boosts things, like Carlos' MAUI bot. When you post on Bluesky, Bridgy federates that out to people who are following your Bridgy account. I'm not sure if hashtags work though.

Oh sorry, I realise now I misunderstood. To post with your existing handle you can use a cross-platform tool. I've not used any, but I know a few others have. I think @jamesmontemagno has?

P.S. now that you have your Bridgy account working, can you make a new post announcing it, and include some hashtags? I can't boost replies using the dotnet bot, only original posts (I did ask for that restriction to be relaxed).

@SmartmanApps I'm not sure I'll stick with this approach tbh. I don't want to be on here with 2 handles.
I'm trying to simply things, not add even more π

Yeah, there's some people who I follow on Bluesky who don't really post here anymore - it's more for that scenario really. I thought you weren't going to post here anymore, which is why I brought up Bridgy. If you def want to post both places then a cross-platform tool is best for that. I'm almost certain James has used one.

@SmartmanApps I like this approach that it automatically does it for me, I just want it to post it to the account I already have. But I'll look into it a bit more.

@jfversluis
Yeah, it's automatic, but not as the account you already have - well, not the one you have here if that's what you mean, I think that's what you mean? Your Mastodon account?
f I remember who else I've seen use a cross-platform tool I'll let you know, but I can only think of James at the moment. Oh! I think @alvinashcraft might be using one!

@SmartmanApps @jfversluis I'm using Buffer to schedule posts across services, but I use separate apps to browse them. Buffer lets you connect 3 services with their free plan, so I'm currently doing Mastodon, Bluesky and LinkedIn there. You can schedule up to 10 posts on each service on the free plan.
OpenVibe can connect to Threads, Mastodon and Bluesky to read and post, but every time I've tried it, it's been buggy for me. Hopefully they'll work the kinks out soon.
