@tonroosendaal time and again in any project, "innovate/push in exactly one direction, keep everything else at known workflows" rule is true. It seems with Gold it tried to 1) push in technical aspects (cycles+painterly render), 2) for the first time, tell a very personal story that creator is invested in, and 3) have a director remote at many hours timezone diff. Just one of these new things is hard; three (or more) at once is very hard.
