Had an amazing time at Do iOS in Amsterdam this week. I spoke about my two favorite topics in one talk – accessibility and design systems! My highlight was definitely the conversations afterwards how other people approach building accessible apps at work. Loved to hear your stories and you all rock! Keep it up 🙌

@feli loved it! I liked how the slides that I went through a while ago gave a really good idea of what you were going to discuss. Fun to see the live demo too!

... and I made the same point about Voice Control going to “one word only" mode in iOS 18 and not having an option to change to the old behavior, which was a fun coincidence. 😀

Looking forward to seeing you on stage (again) soon!

@bas yeah the one word mode for Voice Control was a surprising change in iOS 18, let’s see how that evolves.

Happy you liked it!

I couldn’t decide which of the three assistive technologies to show in the live demo so I showed all of them 😂 at both conferences the cluck sound for switch control did not work smoothly and the audience tried to help me by doing the sound as well, that was so cute 🥰

@feli think it was great to see multiple assistive technologies in action! Sure helps make a point about not everything being about screen readers.

Ahh, that is quite sweet about the audience helping! 😄

@feli That was great! And ditto on the Voice Control change. I had a closer look (for Reveal’s next update) and it strips non-letter/numbers and takes the first word or the first 64 characters in the first word.

@feli (also noticed that the bar button item in the demo app had the input label «Gearshapefill» 😉)

@nesevis hehe yeah, it really is time to add a label to the gear shape icon 😉

Interesting details on the Voice Control name logic. Does the first 64 characters of the first word only affect the visual representation or also what the user has to say in order to interact with it? It probably doesn’t happen very often that the first word is that long?
