@SRDas @autolycos or cumin and black mustard seed. Washington Post had a pilaf-style recipe for cumin rice that is basically just cumin and black mustard in oil, then add rice, then add boiling water. Curry leaves sounds great as well.

@freeradical @autolycos that reminds, no curry leaves but simplest pulao or pilaff you can do with basmati, and just heat bay leaf and some shahi jeera (bitter or black cumin (not nigella) or mountain cumin) in oil or better ghee and then toast the rinsed rice a bit and coat with the oil and then cook.
You could use caraway instead of the shahi jeera - not the same but should be ok
