I hate that this is true, but it is true, and something I often think about. I suspect a lot of folks in the US don't realise just how pervasive US culture is, certainly in Ireland and the UK, and how much of an effect it has on us. Same is true for UK politics and the effect on Ireland.

@paulca We lag a few years behind, at best. But then in Scotland, I’m also used to not having much control over UK politics…

@jamesthomson — Yeah, now that’s a weird one. And even then, you had a good run compared to Northern Ireland and it not having any devolved parliament for what was it… 3 years?
