@lo because apps were for a long time associated with android apps I think

@lo "apps" has a mobile connotation and people have this irrational console war-esque feeling about anything that reminds them of their phones for some reason

(even though apps being called apps on desktop goes wayyy back, and apple didn't invent the word "apps" for the iphone)
