hm audacity is not very good. crashes regularly, is not very flexible with input device selection, and trying to make it so makes it crash. i'm not very interested in a bug fixing project right now.
does anyone have recommendations of alternatives? i use linux.

in one case it crashed, which led to calling the crash reporter from the signal handler, which also crashed (also that kind of signal handler is illegal but that's not what broke it this time)
