Been reminded that I get a £100 "learning grant" to spend each year at work, and I hardly ever actually spend it. Not sure what I could spend it on, really: it's not for specifically work stuff (and we have a team O'Reilly account anyway). I've already got an Udemy account with seven pages of largely ignored courses, doesn't seem worthwhile adding to the list of stuff I'll never do.
So I've no idea what I could actually spend it on!

@semanticist can you buy books?

@mrsbeanbag I could, but anything work-related is technically off limits! (In as much as if I want a work-related book or whatever, I should just ask and my boss will buy it, or we have an account for everything O'Reilly have.)
I can't just buy some fiction, since it's a learning grant... and other things of interest either don't lend themselves to books, or the stuff I'd do at home would fall into the 'work topic' clause because I'm a sad nerd. :D
