The idea for this article was a brilliant one, and the courage to actually write it is commendable:

So I decided to send Alexandra Petri a few words of encouragement:
»Hi!
With this email, I want to say thank you and congratulate you for writing the #endorsement article.
I enjoyed reading it very much. Out of all the news bits and full length articles on the #election I read this year, yours stands out as it is as witty as it is true, it's personal and relatable, and it very obviously comes from the heart.

It is my hope that precisely due to these traits, this article gets a few more of your fellow American citizens thinking, or at least strengthens the resolve of people who lean blue and/or value democracy not only to vote, but to also go out in their communities and talk about what's at stake here. The article may look insignificant to some, but even if it affects only a handful of people: every single #vote counts, so it would still be an achievement. Your achievement.

I also hope that having written this article doesn't sabotage your career at the #WashingtonPost or elsewhere.
Finally, I'm wishing you you a safe, easy delivery and a healthy baby.
Kind regards,
