At some point #RMS will no longer be with us, that's just inevitable.
The issue I see most of the people wanting to break the bond between him and the #FreeSoftware movement is to move it away of its ethical and technical values, and ideology.
This is not the first time, the OSI was the result of early attemps.

Now, trying to cancel him bcs of his edgy statements, is really a bad joke, the very idea of #FreeSoftware we now enjoy was harshly attacked for many decades
I'm not saying you need to agree with him on everything, people can't even agree with their family in many regards
No human on Earth is loved by everyone, nor "perfect", we all have all kind of quirks, we learn to live with them and/or improve on the way
Trying to cancel someone out of a trend, I think is just stupid
