Have been trying out Lemmy, a software which is what you might call the fediverse version of Reddit. It is so far doing pretty well.
We gotta build our own shit, because we cannot depend on anyone at the levers of power.

@philnelson I really like lemmy, I feel like it actually kinda works better for the federation concept than mastodon. Because the communities are hosted on servers, the "but what does an instance do?" question is easier to answer

@mcc yes, Lemmy works as a drop-in replacement for Reddit better than Mastodon is a drop-in replacement for Twitter or whatnot
