Sometimes I wish we had a term for people who aren't actual good allies, but aren't bigots either.
We act like just accepting that people are different is easy, because all you have to do is not give a fuck about things that don't matter to you. Which is true, and you get labelled an ally
But at the same time we say that true allyship is hard work, because you have to educate yourself, and educate others, step in to stop bad behavior, amplify voices. All of which is also true.
but then we have 2 different definitions of ally, and we expect the bare minimum to be the first type of ally, but then there is this conflicting stuff that people on the fence might not be aware of, and that bigots can use to sway people over.
Like yes, I want people close to me to actively stop bigotry in their circles, but at the same time, I'm fine being in activities where everyone is the bare minimum "sure whatever doesn't change my life in any way", if that makes sense

sympathizer sounds like it would be a reasonable word, but that sounds too much like a meme for me to take it seriously
