Bummer, both Chrome and Firefox stopped accepting keyboard input on the one machine I updated to Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS. Stderr says "Unable to connect to ibus". Switching from X.org to Wayland fixes the issue for Firefox, but not for Chrome (and reintroduces the issues that caused me to disable Wayland in the first place, so that's not an option). Searching the net finds some similar issues, but no solution that works.

The ibus socket is located under ~/.cache/ibus/. As ~/.cache/ grew way too big, changes a lot, and does not need backup, I had replaced it for all my users on all my systems by symlinks to a scratch partition, a long time ago.
Apparently snap usability^Wsecurity was tightened more in Ubuntu 24.04LTS, so that no longer works. Moving ~/.cache/ back solved the issue.
