@tt @byandreas I am running it on an old iMac with an nvidia card using Mint too.
No problems and faster than windows.

@byandreas good news: you can have it work well on any distro. :)
Not to say that all distros are the same, though, there are many other criteria you might consider to find the good fit for you, like : if it fits the level of experience you have with linux, the level of support, how much it's automated vs how much it allows you to tweak it, etc.

@blenderbuch made a boot usb with Ubuntu Studio on it and did a test run, will have to figure out how to install it on a partition and do the dual boot with windows 10 that i have on the other partition 🙃 i guess this weekend will smell like linux here 🫠

@byandreas I think any so long as you're using X11. I've seen blender stable releases that are completely broken on an up to date wayland system.

@byandreas Its possible that this might work (https://github.com/rbreaves/kinto), but regardless good luck with your switch! I'm going to be installing some variety on Linux (not decided which yet) on my main PC as well soon. Gonna be interesting diving head first in.

@byandreas tbh that is what I will probably do as well to maintain easy access to C4D and Affinity Photo until I can figure out ways of getting then running from Linux (seen people do them within stand alone virtual machines but we will see if that is actually something I can manage!)

@smilingdemon @byandreas do you have a minute to talk about my distro of choice, Bazzite? :D
Seriously though, check out the #ublue distros, it's what I stuck with after testing mint and a few others. Pretty low to no hassle
