All projects funded by NWO now receive a unique Grant ID. This persistent identifier by Crossref ensures that outputs—publications, data, software—are easily discoverable and linked, enhancing #OpenScience and #FAIRdata https://www.nwo.nl/en/news/nwo-funded-research-projects-get-unique-identifier-with-grant-id

@crossref How long does it take for a registered DOI to become active? I clicked a random grant-id I got from the NWO api and got a 404, and when I checked, 75 out of 178 grant ids gave a 404 @OpenScienceNL

@martijn @crossref @OpenScienceNL Not long - can you send some examples?

@epentz this is one https://doi.org/10.61686/CMGWF10680
But I don't know what the process at NWO is. It could be that the process to add the identifier to the data is decoupled from registering the doi, and the delay is at their end @crossref @OpenScienceNL

That DOI has not yet been registered with Crossref unfortunately. I can see from their submission logs that they have been registering new DOIs throughout September and early October so hopefully those DOIs not resolving will be registered with us soon. Upon a successful deposit the DOI should work almost straight away. You can see the DOIs that have been registered already in our API: https://api.crossref.org/members/47652/works
