Ok so I just listened to the latest episode of the "What's in the SOSS?" podcast and I have issues... https://openssf.org/podcast/2024/10/01/whats-in-the-soss-podcast-16-dells-sarah-evans-and-lisa-bradley-and-ensuring-secure-open-source-software-at-the-enterprise-level/
One of the guests introduces her role at Dell thusly: "protect against open source and making sure that our customers are protected against the open source that we use in our products"

And oh look, so end-user focused, keeping them so safe... but this is like a restaurant saying they're protecting their customers from food poisoning from... the free hot dogs the restaurant found on the street and has decided to serve.
IF OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE IS SO BAD AND DANGEROUS, WHY IS IT THERE??? Who made that decision?

A more productive and realistic framing would be "ensuring Dell is responsibly incorporating volunteer work into their products". Acknowledge your agency, the benefits you're getting. Geez.
