@johnonolan Would you ever enable a way for people to comment without having to become a member? It sounds fairly official and $$ involved, even if there isn't a charge for it.

@johnonolan That's fair. I know I don't have enough of an audience to warrant much worry about comments - it was my last ditch attempt at an excuse as to why no one's commenting. 😆😆😆

@johnonolan I wish I could turn comments off automatically after x days/weeks/months.
One less thing to worry about when you have 23 years of posts.

@johnonolan also would love it if me while logged into ghost pro on my blog, if I could comment on my own posts without having to subscribe to my own blog, then make sure my avatar is the same so people know it’s really me.
Would be nice if it was all automatic, maybe even with “Author” tag on my comments to make it clear to readers

@johnonolan aaaand it just happened. I recently got a SEO spam comment on a blog post I imported into Ghost that was originally written in 2001.
I have built many of my own content management systems and worked on Blogger and I can't for the life of me figure out how to delete this garbage comment from my Ghost blog now.

@mathowie oh wow, that’s a first! Sorry about the trouble - moderation is a little clunky right now (we’re working on it, right now)
Atm you need to create a member with the same email address as your admin user, sign in to site as that member, then you’ll see (basic) moderation controls on comments
We’ll improve this, I swear.

@mathowie @johnonolan hey Matt, had this problem rattling around in my head this morning and couldn't help but throw some code together to at least partially help with it. I've written a little bit of code to disable the comments area after 1 week, but it can be edited to any duration. It relies on JS, so it won't catch all spam, but it might help mitigate at least some. Let me know if you're interested 👍🏻
