Cannot be removed via "Customize Toolbar ..." menu, not configuration option. Instead: userChrome.css.

Yes, exactly, one of the least user-friendly options. 🤦

Irony: For this to work one has to enable a configuration option called "toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets".

Yeah, you have to enable legacy stuff to turn off something that could have been easily removable via the existing interface customization feature.
