There was no vetting. Peter Thiel bought Vance specifically to be the figurehead for their project 2026l5 takeover of the govt. You see, if The Orange Fuckface™ wins, either he'll step down, or get 25th amendment Ed, or assassinated, and then Vance (Thiel) becomes President.
