Genuine question, why is it even possible to arrange files in a messy way like this in #macOS? how is that useful to anyone

@sotneStatue It’s part of the “desktop metaphor” which allows Finder to lay out documents like papers on a real desk.
It can be quite useful when trying to organise documents quickly regardless of their metadata.
