I'm very surprised that MKBHD is pushing a rebadged wallpapers app with a rather pricey subscription and tons of very invasive ads (they request the location permission, which... How! Marquess would've roasted others doing that!).
I suppose I expected more of him and his team, this smells like a bad cash grab and it makes me sad

Update: the app is not rebadged https://x.com/MKBHD/status/1838583491413360781
Marquess still claims they're building in public (after dropping a finished v1 — yeah dude that's not how it works), and that the insane data collection is due to the ads SDK, and they'll change it. But, the question is: how did you get to the public launch without ever questioning the data collection that sdk is doing? You clearly were ok with that until yesterday!

Update update: it looks like this may be a lie, and the app is at least based on Chris Lacy's ActionWalls app from a few years ago.
h/t @fourlastor for the find

What a strange story.
YouTubers are falling one after another in different scandals. While I've not really followed what Marques has been up to lately, I always thought pretty highly of him. I hope there's just a layer of misunderstandings instead of some strange deception going on here.

@lehtimaeki same. I still think he's a good one but has really fucked this one up. Hope I don't have to change my mind again... @fourlastor
