Toot

Written by Steve on 2024-09-22 at 14:55

Walked through the forest, saw a lot of cut trees. Most of them had a similar pattern like the one shown in the photo. Does anyone know what is this difference in color?

I am curious about what it could be. Any ideas?

@SteveTux this is not a very informed answer to your question, but I think that wood getting greyish is a mechanism against fouling. My guess is it has been lying there for some time and was exposed to water.

@phneutral

Sounds logical. Especially if the cutting appeared to happen later, so the inner core was protected and now is exposed.

Thx.

Curious if I will get more answers.
